The Portal : day 9

Revision is the magic

We are now at the end days of this portal — the final thresholds, the last 4 days where we can notice the small and large epiphanies through subtle or not so subtle messages that come through.

These days require the art of paying attention. These days require the art of hope, belief, a slowing down, and a desire for parsing out and refilling the energetic space of your life.

These days are the magic days, the omen days, the days that hopefully will shed light on the rest of our year, what we can remember about these days as we move on, is helpful. They can help us remember what to take with us as we cross through and out of this portal. They can grant us some simple wisdom that can become a guide for us. They are here for us to imprint within us a deeper wisdom for what is coming to meet us.

My practice, this writing, is a living proof of this, for me. This will be my guidebook. This will be what I come back to. But not in its perfect form because it isn’t formed perfectly. I just showed up and wrote. I had only one rule and it was to show up and write. But what I bring forward and through will become revisions. Revisions are magic. What I bring forward isn’t set in stone. It’s a gorgeous tapestry that hasn’t been made yet.

I got a text from my 21 year old daughter this morning and it said

Mom, can you teach me how to write? Like good stories?You actually teach people how to write so you can teach me, right?

Obviously I am elated. But really, I don’t teach people how to write.

What I told her was the first thing we do is show up. And we write. And we just keep showing up and we just keep writing. And then when you feel it’s time, when the writing portal closes, when you feel complete, you revise. You edit. You go back in and you notice all the things that shimmer like gold and you breathe more life into them. They bring them forward more and more. And you keep writing, and doing this process. This is where the magic happens. This is actually where we deepen our writing.

And the same goes for this practice, these portal days. We show up, and we get to revise, breathe life in the shimmery gold wisdom that has come through — and we move forward in change.
